Wonderful nature yarn from the Faroe Islands
The meaning of the word “Faroe Islands” is the “Sheep Islands”, and as the name indicates many sheep are living on these islands in the middle of the North Atlantic region. The wool, which was like “the gold of the Faroe Islands”, does not have the same importance for the islands anymore. However, there is still a production of yarn and wool products.
The owner of today, Oli Kristian, of the company – Navia - has been able to keep the tradition after his grandfather, as the wool production seriously started again 5 years ago.
The wool is made of mixed wool from the Faroe Islands, Shetland wool and Merino wool from Australia. The yarn is available in 3 different thicknesses and in 7 nice natural colours. It can be bought in balls (à 50g) or some designs as kits. The kits content yarn and a knitting instruction. Please see the assortment of the lovely designs within sweaters, cardigans, bonnets, socks, and gloves.
